Sarah is looking forward to taking up the challenge of this new role of Activities Coordinator in Kirkdale, Allison House and Guisborough Day Centre.
Sarah has worked in the area of Health and Social Care since 2001, working with people living with dementia and people with learning difficulties. In 2010 she progressed from this position to gain a qualification as an Occupational Therapist. Since this time she has worked as an Occupational Therapist within areas of Reablement and Paediatrics and developed relevant professional skills of assessing individuals and their environments in order to plan various means of enabling clients to overcome barriers to participate in activities.
Her role was originally funded through a three-year grant from the Dunhill Medical Trust to look specifically at meaningful activities for people with moderate, severe and challenging dementia. These types of activities will involve various levels and skills; physical, cognitive and social.
